The Network Format

Tube Car Panels: One Buy, All 11 Lines

583 panels per pack

Sold in packs of 583 panels spread across the whole network, inside the carriages where passengers sit and stand. One design covers the pack; more packs buy a bigger share of voice.

~2.16M impacts per 2 weeks

Each pack delivers an estimated 2.16 million impacts per 2-week cycle, with the longest dwell time on the network: 13 to 21 minutes per journey, no competing screens.

£6,413 + £1,365 print

Media from £6,413 per pack per 2 weeks, print a one-off £1,365 per pack. Four weeks is exactly double the media with no extra print, so longer runs work harder.

Straight Answers

"Can I Advertise On One Line?" Honestly: Mostly No

This is the question every Tube advertiser asks, and the industry answer is usually vaguer than it should be. The truth: Tube Car Panels are general distribution across all 11 lines and cannot be pinned to one. Station formats, from cross-tracks to escalator panels, are bought by station or zone, never by line.

So when a brand wants "the Jubilee line", we build it the honest way: booking that line's key stations so the coverage follows the route. Central interchanges are shared, which means a station buy also reaches passengers from every other line passing through.

The one exception is the Elizabeth line, which is sold as its own complete estate. Because of that, a true single-line takeover is possible there, and we have done it: we ran the Velo x McLaren Underground campaign across the Elizabeth line during F1 week.

Underground Questions

Tube Advertising, Answered

How much does London Underground advertising cost?
Platform 4-sheets start from £550 per panel per 2 weeks, escalator panels from £350 per panel in runs of 6, cross-track 16-sheets from £1,370, and digital 6-sheet screens from £960. The network-wide format, Tube Car Panels, costs from £6,413 media plus £1,365 one-off print for a 583-panel pack running 2 weeks. Print and VAT are on top for paper formats. Full station takeovers start around £15,000 for smaller stations.
What are Tube Car Panels (TCPs)?
TCPs are the printed panels inside Tube carriages, above the windows and seats. They are sold in packs of 583 panels distributed across all 11 Underground lines, delivering an estimated 2.16 million impacts per pack per 2 weeks. One design covers the whole pack, and passengers see it for the longest dwell time on the network, typically 13 to 21 minutes per journey. Media is from £6,413 per pack per 2 weeks with a one-off £1,365 print cost.
Can I advertise on just one Underground line?
Mostly no, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling loosely. Tube Car Panels are general distribution across the whole network and cannot be pinned to a single line. Station formats such as cross-tracks, 4-sheets, escalator panels and digital screens are bought by station or zone, not by line. The honest way to target a line is to book its key stations, and because central interchanges are shared, a station buy also reaches passengers from other lines. The Elizabeth line is the one exception, sold as its own estate.
Do Underground advertising prices include print?
Paper formats carry print on top of media: for example a TCP pack adds a one-off £1,365 print charge, and posters are quoted per creative. Digital screens have no print costs and artwork can be changed during the campaign. All prices exclude VAT.
How long do Tube campaigns run?
The Underground sells in 2-week cycles. A 4-week campaign is exactly double the 2-week media price, and print is a one-off, so longer campaigns get better effective value from the same artwork.
What is the minimum spend for Tube advertising?
A single platform 4-sheet from £550 plus print for 2 weeks is the realistic entry point. Escalator panels are sold in runs of 6 from £350 per panel. For network-wide presence, the 583-panel TCP pack from £6,413 plus print is the minimum unit.
What is a station takeover?
A takeover combines most or all of a station’s inventory: escalator panels, 4-sheets, 6-sheets, cross-tracks and digital screens in one buy, so every passenger touchpoint carries your brand. Smaller stations start around £15,000 per 2 weeks and flagship central stations run to £50,000 and beyond. Each one is priced bespoke.
Is Underground advertising worth it compared with other formats?
The Tube offers what street formats cannot: a captive audience with 13 to 21 minutes of dwell time per journey and no competing screens. It pairs naturally with street-level activity, and many of our campaigns run Underground panels alongside Digital AdVans and AdBikes so the brand follows the audience above and below ground. We ran exactly that combination for Velo x McLaren during F1 week, including an Elizabeth line takeover.
